How Often Can You Use Celluma?

December 1, 2020 by Joe Amaral

celluma

Some days it feels like there’s a cosmetic treatment for everything. While that might be beneficial for some people, it can quickly get out of hand when you have multiple appearance-related concerns you want to treat. The solution for this is to find an all-in-one system that can address all of your aesthetic concerns at one time. At Pristine Med Spa in Ridgecrest, CA, we know one of the most diverse treatments is LED light therapy with the Celluma system.

How Often Can You Use Celluma?

Celluma is a unique LED light therapy system that can treat multiple concerns at one time through a combination of three light wavelengths, each of which addresses a different cellular function to stimulate your body’s natural regenerative response. Your initial round of treatments will consist of four to eight treatments that are spaced only a few days apart. After you have achieved your desired results, you will need to attend maintenance appointments once every four to six weeks.

Why Is This Frequency Ideal?

Your first round of treatments will be done twice a week, which means your first treatments will take about two to four weeks to complete. But why are these initial treatments placed so closely together? The main reason is that LED light therapy requires consistency and repetition to begin influencing the way the cells in your body respond – so the more often you do your first round of treatment, the more quickly you can “program” your cells to respond to the light wavelengths in a certain way.

Of course, the frequency of this treatment is also determined by your age, your skin condition, and how quickly your cells respond to the treatment. Many younger patients find that they respond more quickly to their initial round of treatments, which means they have fewer treatments overall; mature patients may require more time to achieve the same results.

What Can Celluma Help With?

Celluma can address quite a few cosmetic concerns, particularly those related to aging. For example, Celluma LED Light Therapy is frequently used to address superficial skin concerns, such as sun damage, dark spots, pigmentation, skin laxity, and fine lines. In particular, Celluma can help with the treatment of anti-aging skin concerns, acne, and even pain.

How Does This Work for Anti-Aging?

Exposing light to the skin stimulates the body’s natural regenerative abilities due to the way cells in the body respond to the different light wavelengths. For example, the infrared light of this system can help stimulate the sub-dermal layers of skin to produce higher levels of collagen and elastin, which can reverse signs of fine lines and skin laxity. Other light can encourage more rapid skin-cell turnover, which can reduce pigmentation concerns.

How Does This Work for Acne?

Acne is caused by a combination of dead skin cells lingering on the skin surface and acne-causing bacteria; when the bacteria is trapped by dead skin cells, acne begins to form. This treatment can work for the treatment of acne, acne scarring, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation because light exposure will kill acne-causing bacteria and encourage skin cells to shed more quickly. The inflammation associated with acne can also be calmed by LED light therapy.

How Does This Work for Pain?

Localized pain in the body is often caused by inflammation, such as in the muscles or joints, that tell the nerves in the body that extra pressure is being placed in the inflamed area. For this reason, a treatment that can reduce inflammation in the body can also help alleviate pain, which is exactly what this treatment can do. Both acute pain and chronic pain can be managed by this treatment.

How Quickly Can You See Results?

You will begin to see your results during your initial round of treatment, with the results finalizing two to four weeks after your treatment is complete. Naturally, the treatment of some conditions may show results more quickly. For example, treatment for acne can usually see results sooner than treatment for age-related concerns due to how quickly light can kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin surface.

How Long Do Results Last?

The results of this treatment are temporary, but they will last for a while – most patients can enjoy the results of this treatment for four to six weeks at a time. This puts the results of the treatment on par with other facials, such as chemical peels, and that means it’s easy to maintain your maintenance appointments.

Can You Combine This Treatment?

Absolutely! In fact, combining this treatment with others is usually a good way to achieve your desired results more quickly. Although this treatment can address a variety of skin concerns, there are some issues this treatment can’t help with, such as uneven skin texture or skin dryness. This is why this treatment is frequently combined with exfoliating treatments, such as microdermabrasion and microneedling.

Who Are Good Candidates?

Good candidates for this treatment include any person who is not satisfied with the appearance of their skin. Uniquely, this treatment can be used on young adults battling acne as well as on older adults who are fighting against the visible signs of aging.
