Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure that can give you that youthful and healthy look you have been looking for. The procedure is not just used for cosmetic purposes but also for treating certain skin conditions like spider veins, acne, and rosacea. After having the procedure done, there are some things that you need to do to get the best results as your skin heals.
Moisturize the Skin
Laser skin resurfacing removes old skin and exposes new skin that needs to be well-moisturized in order to heal. Keeping the skin moisturized prevents scab formation and reduces the time it takes for your skin to heal. At Pristine Med Spa. we can recommend an ointment that you can use to keep the skin moist. You have to clean the treated skin multiple times a day and then apply the ointment to moisturize the skin.
Decrease Side Effects
Swelling after the procedure is normal. To decrease swelling, apply ice packs to the inflamed area. It is also normal for the skin to look somewhat peeled for several days after the procedure. After the peeling phase has subsided, you can use oil-free makeup to decrease the redness, which fades away in weeks or months, depending on the situation.
Avoid Exposure to the Sun
Laser treatment makes the skin more sensitive to exposure to the sun. If you are exposed to too much sun, the skin is damaged, or some dark spots develop. It is advisable to use broad-spectrum sunscreens that protect against both UVB and UVA rays. The sunscreen has to have a level 30 or higher SPF protection. Sunscreen wears off during the day and, thus, you need to reapply it multiple times.
